Out of all of the products we provide here at Trackershop, the item that we have had the most requests for by far is a GPS watch for kids.

Today’s modern parents have seen technology progress in all areas. Life has become easier and more enjoyable in certain aspects due to these advances in tech.

It makes sense then, that when a product becomes available that increases the ability to provide safety for your children then it is worth learning more about.

The GPS Watch for kids (suitable for all ages) is a fashionable, splash proof GPS locator and 2 way phone that is controlled conveniently from a smartphone app.

For the tech advanced parents, you are most likely already running your life from your smartphone. So such a safety device will fit perfectly in to your lifestyle.

For the less tech savvy parents at the school gates, the good news is this GPS watch and app couldn’t be easier to use! The watch arrives set up and ready to go out of the box!

Either way, whether you are a gadget lover or if you shy away from technology having a safety app on your phone that shows your child’s location is arguably the most important app you will ever download!

THE LIBERTY GPS WATCH FOR KIDS

In the past the trouble with GPS watches was that there was always a compromise in accuracy, battery life or design. The technology hasn’t been available to tick all the boxes needed for a fully functioning GPS watch.

Enter the Liberty GPS watch! Never before has a kids tracker proven to be so user friendly, fashionable and most importantly, accurate and reliable!

As the newest and most advanced GPS watch with the longest battery life, we truly believe that these are just a few of the reasons why these will be used by parents everywhere to help offer further safety for their kids.

GPS WATCH REVIEW

However, despite our positive testing we thought it would be important to conduct an ‘in-field’ test and review.

Enter Paula and Layla.

Paula is a Nanny in Essex, and has been for over 10 years. Paula currently works full time with Layla and her family.

Layla is a 6 year old school girl with a busy social life, involving dance classes, swimming, football and play dates at the park several times a week. Of course, school has to fit in around all of this as well!

PAULA says…

“Like all 6 year olds, Layla’s after school and social calendar is packed! Even weekends are now taken up with birthday parties and dance meetings. I would say since I have been looking after Layla her weekly activities have doubled.

As a child minder, the priority before anything else is of course safety.

For parents, as important as homework, dance examinations, and swimming meets are, knowing their child is safe every second of the day absolutely overrules everything else. This is even more the case when entrusting your child in someone else’s care.

Over the years I have seen more and more safety requirements and rules put in place with different families I have worked with. Things like Nanny Cams and various smart home security features have been popping up more and more.

This makes sense. As technology improves, then the first thing it should be used for is safety.

There’s nothing more important than being able to instantly locate a child if they become lost.”

USING THE GPS WATCH

“First impressions when opening the box was that this is a really cool looking watch. It looks like something a kid would pick out themselves to wear.

Layla was really excited when she saw it and wanted to put it on straight away.

What’s good is it can be worn anywhere and is appropriate for school and any clubs that Layla attends.”

How did you get on with the app?

“The app is one of the easiest I’ve ever used. Its free to download and I set myself as the ‘Guardian’, as that allows me to set any safety zones up. Both Layla’s parents can login as well. You can send messages straight to the watch from the app.”

What did you think of the 2 way communication feature?

“Layla doesn’t have a phone. From experience, not many kids at a young age do. Parents are reluctant to buy a phone for a young child as it’s an added expense and responsibility.

The fact that this GPS watch has a 2 way phone is great. You would only really need to phone a child in an emergency, as there is usually someone with them the rest of the time. The phone on the watch is really clear too! Just as good as a normal phone.”

Battery life

Depending on use, the GPS watch will last approx. 2 days before it needs charging again. So pretty much twice as long as a mobile phone.

“Charging is easy too. Layla’s Mum tells me that Layla puts it on charge every night next to her bed. It’s good to give her that little bit of responsibility, and as she genuinely enjoys wearing it to school, she never forgets!”

Safety Zones

“We have tested the zones at the park, and they are incredibly accurate and I can see how they would be a huge help in an emergency.

The fact that they are so simple to set on the app means you can set one up instantly for any new locations that need to be monitored at any time.

I know that Layla’s parents check the app whilst they’re still at work, as there’s something comforting about being able to see where your child is when you’re away from them. And to be honest I quite like that they can see Layla is in good hands and always where she needs to be on time.”

What did Paula think about the idea that a GPS Watch may be considered invasive or a breach of privacy?

“I think everyone’s entitled to their own view and each parent will do what they believe is best for their child. But when they are young, I think you should always know where your child is and who they’re with anyway. And at the end of the day safety trumps everything else.

Parents and schools are really big on educating their kids about ‘stranger danger’ and the risk of wandering. But I’ve been really shocked recently with the social experiment Youtube videos that show young kids being distracted and led away from their parents in a matter of seconds.

We’re all human and it’s a sad fact that children go missing every single day in countless different scenarios.

Kids are kids. They get caught up in the moment, and if there’s just the slightest possibility anything could happen then being able to instantly locate them in a second is such a great comfort- and could well be a life saver.”

Any final thoughts on the watch?

Overall I can see this watch definitely being something that so many parents will be using in the future!

Why wouldn’t it be! If you know it’s for your kids safety and they enjoy wearing it then it just makes sense. “
